G’day all. I’m David Reidy, an Australian bloke who lives in the Blue Mountains two hours west of Sydney, and knits and podcasts about knitting. Away from the sticks and string, I’m an astrophysicist who now teaches high school. In my knitting and podcasting endeavours I am assisted by my two Burmese cats, Tikka and Tiger.

Hello from Colorado!
I’ve been listening to your podcast for several months now and can’t tell you enough how much I enjoy it. The chat, the music, the topics, everything flows so smoothly. And it also amazes me how I seem to be on the same topic that you are discussing. Last week I was mentally griping about how part of my capelet looked wonky and you talked about how not to focus on the few things that didn’t work out and look at the many things that did. Then this week I was trying a provisional cast on for the first time and the magic toe-up sock when I listened to you talk about trying harder projects. So I’d say you have your finger on the pulse of what knitters struggle with and talk about them in an intelligent and humorous way.
I’m a high school teacher too so it’s also fun hear you talk about schools and students in your part of the world. Anyway, thanks for all you do and I look forward to hearing your next podcast. Happy holidays!

I do so enjoy your podcast all the way from down under to here in BC Canada.
I am uncertain as to what 8 ply singles are as referred to in episode 41. Is it yarn with 8 singles in or is it 8 separate singles put together for dyeing ?
I hail from England where a single was always constant and 4 ply was double thickness of 2 ply and so on. Over the years it has all got muddied and terms of double knitting, worsted fingering etc are only loosely used and each mill seems to have their own version. It is all made worse here in North America where we have Imperial, metric and US sizing in needles and hooks.
Back to the 8ply single and what is it please.

I am so jealous of your outing to the opera! I have to admit that La Boheme is not one of my favorites, but I think watching it outdoors while knitting could make it bearable. (I find myself wanting to yell, “Just *die* already!” during some of Puccini’s operas.) Of course, as an aspiring opera singer, Sydney is high on my list of Places to Visit.

Hello! I always enjoy your podcasts, but I just wanted to comment this time as towards the end you started talking about the birds that were outside. This was so nice for me, as I lived in Australia as a kid, and a miss seeing cockatoos and rosellas and whatnot! It’s always nice to have something jolt my memory.

I would like to listen to your podcasts from the beginning. Why don’t you have an index of all the shows? It takes way to much time going back one month at a time using the calander. I tried to find your email to send you this instead but couldn’t find that either.
