Sticks & String

A podcast by an Australian bloke who knits.

Midweek update (20 December)

G’day all.

The Nundle trip went very well, it’s an interesting place, and the three of us were quite restrained with the spending. It was, to say the least, an eventful day. The interviews I recorded though, are very interesting.

Unfortunately, we’ve had an unexpected death in my family and I have been dealing with all the formalities that go along with such events, and will need to do so for some time to come. Fear not, however, I will continue with the podcast, the wonderful comments and support I get from all of you enriches much of what I do. Show 9 might not get out on time this week though. For the past 2 days I have had to be available to everyone and I’m simply worn out – nothing that a good night’s sleep won’t cure, but I’m just out of ideas to sit down and write for the show on Saturday. I will endeavour to get the show written and recorded, but I won’t promise as so many things have already happened this week I don’t want to jinx it.

Similarly, I’d caught up with emails, but am now well behind again, I’m actually looking forward to replying, there are some really good ones with lots of terrific information, but that might have to wait until the weekend when I can sit down and take my time, follow links etc.

If I don’t get the show out before Christmas, let me wish all of you a happy one, if you don’t celebrate Christmas I hope you enjoy whatever brings your friends and families together. And don’t forget, come next Tuesday, there are only 364 more days to go, so get started on your 2007 holiday knitting then.

All the best,

David.

  11. There’s not much more to add except to add my condolences as well. Make sure to take some time to take care of yourself as well – sometimes you get so busy attending to others needs at this sad time, that you forget that you too are grieving. All the best.

  14. I am sorry to hear about your loss. I stopped by here originally to add an Interknit site– http://www.magknits.com. It’s an online magazine with free patterns, but I don’t think it is as well-known as Knitty.com

  20. I’m sorry to hear about the loss of a loved one for you and yours. As you take the time and energy to celebrate, remember and honour the one who you’ve all lost, may the closeness of those around you in body and in spirit give you the sustenance you need.

  21. This is a difficult time to loose a loved one. Preparing for Christmas and preparing for a funeral doesn’t seem to match. Last Christmas I lost my grandmother a week before Christmas. She had been very ill so it was anticipated and I think the cheer and busy-ness around the holidays helped. Especially surrounding the children.

  25. David…
I am sorry to hear about the death in your family. You are a true blessing to your family by being able to do all that you are doing in this time of bereavement.

I am only just getting caught up with my podcast subscriptions as I was having a problem with itunes and ipod. I am back now and see that I am really behind on probably a whole series! The other day, I sent you an essay on my own history with knitting, but I am assuming that it’s already too late to be included in one of your podcasts, but please enjoy it for yourself.

    God Bless,
    Debbie
